Charles,

I have a pair of HD8's in working nick off my Austin Healey BJ8 - they'd benefit from a refurb kit but were actually ok when removed. That's 2" throat btw.

Ebay? Or a breaker's yard? Plenty of Minis used one.

Thanks for the offer Andrew but I really need an H type for a number of reasons - partly that I've got loads of needles and jets for H types and partly 'cos it's for a prewar car so an H type is nearly right.

Sadly even early Mini's run HS4's which are much later and ebay doesn't seem to ever have H types.

Got their catalogue - Yes they do most things - at a price! I also know of a chap who remakes entire prewar HV types but as usual I'm trying to find an economical route!

Try an MG specialist breaker MG used the H4 on the B series MGA and ZB Magnette up to about 1960 when the later SUs took over, and also later T type XPAG 1952 to 1955 on TD II and TF.

Talking H4 brings memories of sticking cold start lever and dashpot pistons. With the H4 beware the float chamber banjo slackening from vibration -- I always wired the retaining bolt to the bottom arm of the float chamber.

Thanks for the offer Rich but the H4 is much earlier - think Rover 60 or 75 in the 50's. The early V8's ran HS6's which are probably what you have.

Hi all would they ever have been fitted to early rover v8's as ive got 2-3 sets lurking around in the garage but not sure what the model numbers are ???? they have separate float chambers and the choke moves the base of the jet body if this is any help :))))
