On my sons 2000, 1500 short bed ram, I noticed when the truck is out of 4 wheel drive, that the front drive-shaft spins while the truck is moving. Is it suppose to do that? If not does anyone know what would cause this?. Thanks

That is normal. The front axel and driveshaft and are always engaged however disengaged at the diffrential until put into 4WD mode.
The constant wear on those parts are the cost of being able to go to 4WD without leaving the cab. Not to mention a considerable loss of gas milige when in 2WD.
I have put locking hubs on my truck to avoid this but have to manually lock the front wheels before going to 4WD.
I used Waren locking hubs, other makers are available.
Contact dealer if you go this route to check on warantee.
