'92 - Rear ABS light

OK - I know this isn't new but I can't find a thread that answers my questions. ABS warning light is on. I understand that these rear ABS systems are notorously troublesome. Ford manual suggests it might be easier for me to buy a new car rather than expect them to tell me how to troubleshoot the thing. Can't believe it is all that difficult.

Questions - How is the easiest weay to tell what part is giving me trouble.

I have heard that the rear axel sensor(s) are a real problem. Is there an easy trick to determining if that is the cause? Where is this thing and how do I get to it. But I don't want to tear into the sensor if there is an easy way to tell if that is really the problem.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks, G

After that the other common problem area is the RABS valve (up next to the fuel filter on the frame rail). They run about $150 mail order. The fittings are a bitch to remove due to tight clearances. There is a diagnostic connector that will flash out trouble codes that might give you some ideas but it's not tremendously helpful.
