I have just had the famous display problem fixed on my '99 Mountaineer's Mach audio system. The display works nicely now.
My new problem, which arose a day or so later -- but which I have seen before on an intermittent basis
-- is that the CD player is stuck in MUTE mode. I switch to CD and the track indicator comes on and the track timer starts to increment, but there is no sound and about 3 seconds later "CD ROM MUTE" fills the display.
If I hit the MUTE button the display reads "AUDIO MUTE" and if I hit it again, "CD ROM MUTE" is back.
This is occurring regardless of whether the rear controls are engaged. I can engage the rear controls and toggle the speakers on/off and silence continues to reign.
Anybody out there experienced this or have an idea?
