Disable ABS on a 2001 Ranger Edge

Oct 18, 2005 2 Replies

My buddy and I are building a dune buggy out of a 2001 Ranger Edge. It would be great if we could disable the ABS without the Check Engine light coming on - I heard about a way you can do this by removing a jumper (or possible an IC?) from the ABS board. Does anyone have any more specifics? It's OK to reply off the board via e-mail so the answer isn't made public.

Thanks.

Well... an ABS concern wont usually set the CEL.... though it will turn o the ABS light. In the case of a VSS (rear axle sensor) failure, the PCM will even draw an inferred vehicle speed for another wheel sensor on late model units.

Now... if you want to disable the ABS, simply unplug one of the front wheel speed sensors... ABS disabled... but the ABS light will illuminate. If you wish to disable the light... Why???
