Left directional signal won't turn off

My left signal light on my 98 Explorer won't turn off when I move the lever to the center or to the right. Both the front and the back continue to flash, even when I turn the ignition off and remove the key. Could this be a bad flasher or would you suspect a short?

Thanks , W D

I'd suspect a short. The multi-function switch should turn the flasher off.

Check your VIN with Ford. Your turn signal lever (and the entire multi-function switch) may have been part of the recall that fixed my '99's habit of turning on the wipers without my say-so.
