Ignition Switch linkage on 96 Taurus

Mar 15, 2005 1 Replies

One poster suggested that the only way he could find to fix the linkage between the key cylinder lock and the ignition switch was to replace the steering column. Surely it must be easier than that. Anyone, anyone ......

If you have a Ford manual could you take a look? My Haynes doesn't help at all. It describes how to replace the lock cylinder and the ignition switch but not the link.

TIA

It's not hard to repair. IIRC the column doesn't have to come out. The factory service manuals are available on CD for about ~$10 on Ebay. Try that, then you will have step by step instructions and illustrations to help you. For 10 bucks it's a good investment. Tom
