The 2.9 is a 60 degree "Cologne" V-6. The 3.8 is a 90 degree "Essex" V-6.
Which is just the start of your troubles.
But anything can be done with enough time & money. What's your budget?

If you want performance and space is a problem the Taurus SHO is a 60 degree V6.
