Problem with Ice build up on Windstar door

I have a 99 Windstar. I am quite happy with it with the exception of one problem. During the winter, I get ice build up on the inside of the doors (front driver and passenger side) where the door hinges are. It builds up so bad that it has pushed out the bottom of the door so now there is a permanent bulge at the bottom front of the door.

I spoke to my dealer's service department and asked what the problem what and could it be fixed. He replied that this problem exists on some of Ford's vehicle (not specific to the Windstar) and that there was nothing that they could do.

I find this difficult to believe that since this problem exists on other vehicles that Ford cannot find a solution to this problem. Is there anyone out there that has had a similar problem and what (if anything) did you do to fix it? It's very unsightly and annoying and I would love to fix the root of the problem before I get the body work done to fix the door.

Thanks in advance,

Pat
