Topaz question

Where is the thermostat located on a 4 cyl Topaz? What would cause one side of the radiator to be hot and the other side cool? Thanks

Can't remember where the stat is, but depending how warm the engine is running it is either the rad doing a good job (engine does not approach overheat condition) or it is plugged (engine overheats)

The temp gauge is starting to rise. But hasn't got to the overheating point. Have looked all over for the thermostat but can't find it.

On the 2.3 HSC motor, the thermostat is located at the "back" of the cylinder head - above the bellhousing. (Right where the rad hose attaches). A word of caution... just below the thermostat housing is a rather large opening where the timing marks are viewed. More than one DIYer (and I imagine tech, alike) has gotten a little clumsy and dropped one or more thermostat housing bolts into the opening... Unless someone is very lucky, the only way to get them out is to separate the motor and trans...
