Aint the designer, it's who approves the designs. And I agree, partially... the 500 and Fusion aint gettin it.

Course I'm a geezer but they look bland and non-descript to me, as opposed to the Mustang or even the Escape.

OTOH I don tlike Chrysler's designs for the opposite reason, but they appeal to SOME people anyway.

Could it be because they don't want to listen to disparaging racial slurs from people who can not spell?

Maybe its because some called themselves a nickname, that isn't original, because they just don't have the smarts to think of an original nickname

Well, y'see, Elwood (or is that Robert?)... Talk about "nicknames"... It goes a little like this.

As far as we can see, this is your second post to this NG.... your first being no more helpful than your latest.

Out of the blue, you have decided that we need an inciteful question..... Obviously, looking at the question.... there is no real purpose served by it... Entirely rhetorical and, since you are not asking those producing the automobiles, toatally bereft of any possible answers.

FWIW, beauty is in they eye of the beholder.... simply because you find a design attractive doesn't mean that we all find that design attractive. North American, Asian, European... it doesn't matter, Every last one that has designs that are outstanding... every last one has designs that are boring and every last one has designs that are nothing less than grotesque.

At this point in time, you have pretty much proved your worth....

Engineers tend not to do the styling. and the "Japs" tend to get their vehicles designed in the US. (do a bit of research on the Nissan 350Z and others you might learn something).

I happen to Like Fords designs. The Ford GT & Mustang I think are both nice looking cars as was the Mercury Marauder and Super duty Pickup as well as those other Fords, the Volvo C70 / 850 T5R The Aston Martin DB9 The Land Rover Range Rover Sport The Jaguar XK series and S-Type R's are sweet The Miata is kinda cute for a girl

Style is Subjective I don't, but evidently you like the looks of the Toyota Prius, Aygo, Yaris & Hiace, Honda Impact & Jazz , Nissan Micra & Note, Subaru B9 Tribeca, Suzuki Alto, Ignis "sport" & Liana. etc, etc.

Like I said Style is subjective.

If you cared about the US auto industry (and industry in general) you'd be concerned with how the Sr. Management is re numerated and who they are accountable to (if at all).

You can't tell me that any of the big 3's CEO's aside from Lee Iacocca (and only him for a while) did anything to truly help the US auto industry. They've all taken their turns to loot the company kitty while trashing the backbone, market share and goodwill they entered the companies with.

It's tragic but that's life. America is following in Britians footsteps and will be China's lapdog in due course.

Such is life.

I do believe that the original Henry Ford would be totally disgusted with what "his" industry has become on all fronts.

I have a 1978 F-100 that just happens to have 500k on the original 300 c.i. six-banger, with the original C-6 tranny. Tranny has been rebuilt twice, engine never taken apart. A honda would have never stood the abuse this old truck has been through. They were not easy miles. Its my firewood truck now, before that it was used to haul construction equipment and materials. Give me American anyday! Personally I despise those little imports, especially when some punk kid puts a loud muffler on it.
