battery discharging problem...help needed please

we have got a 2004 tdci 1.8 ghia that is left standing for two weeks at a time after a few days it just won?t start,we got a new battery and the same thing happened again after it was left for two weeks , the auto electrician said he could not find any thing obvious and the garage recommended replacing the alternator but that must be working as for the two weeks he is home the car starts every day and that would not happen if the alternator was working would it ????? the previous owner had no problems but he also used it every day which suggests there is a drain ,but where to start looking ????? any help would be very much appreciated

When you say it does not start after a few days, what actually happens? Does it fail to turn over? Or does it turn over normally, but fail to fire? How do you get it started eventually?

The checks that should have been made are to see if there is any excessive current drain when everything is off, and a check of the charging rate when running. Did your electrician do those checks? If so, can he give you the figures for you to post here?

Assuming those checks have been carried out, and were OK, that will rule out an alternator problem.
