The switch to engage 4 wheel drive has stopped working. Place the truck in neutral, apply the brake and turn the switch. Nothing happens. No light beside the proposed setting IE. Low or High.
Where do I start looking? 2002 Ford Explorer Sport. ( It did work a few months ago flawlessly.)
Unfortunately that is not the case. It is an automatic. I am hoping that there may be a fuse or possible weak wiring link somewhere in the chain that I can look for and change.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT.. Same problem.. Worked, then stopped.. Switches did not work, dash lights not working.. Problem was with a bad
4x4 computer module located behind the glove box (module is about 3x4 inches). This "blew" when I had to disconnect battery and lost battery power.. Found this is a problem with the computer module that was installed. Ford wanted $500 to diagnose and fix problem, I ordered replacement part online for $151 and problem was fixed. My dealer said part would need "re-programmed" but online parts dealer said no.. It was easy install,, 2 small nuts and two wire harnesses and 4x4 works great...The new part has been redesigned so it does not happen again.. Good Luck...
