7.3L Ford Startup idling

I recently changed the fuel filter and the air filter in my truck. I have also recently changed the oil&filter along with the transmission oil and filter. I did the fuel and air filters this past week and had no problems what so ever. Today when I started my truck up after sitting for a couple of days it idled funny after starting. It wanted to stall out and was idling very roughly. I did let it sit for a few minutes and did hit the accelerator and it soon idled fine. I had no problems at all when this little event happened while driving. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have 111k on the truck; 2 wheel drive; automatic. This did happen a few months ago and I decided to put some diesel fuel cleaner.......or was it injector cleaner and that seemed to work at the time.......that a common thing to have to do? Only 11k miles with diesel....fairly new to it. Thanks

Most of the auto parts store stuff you can buy doesn't work worth a darn. two products I'll swear by for diesel:

Howes Diesel Conditioner Plus Anti Gel

if you think its really bad Howes Meaner Power Kleener, same web page.

and Power Service Diesel Kleen

Of the two I prefer Howes, never ever left me on the side of the road. Both are concentrated, so you add what you need based on fuel tank capacity. Any truck stop will carry this stuff, and Autozone used to carry both as well. Pilot was always the cheapest place to buy it, Flying J the most expensive. sometimes NAPA has them as well.

The STP type stuff just doesn't work, and as much as I like Berryman products for gasoline engines, their diesel stuff aint so hot. Another possibility is you have water in the fuel. If it just did it the one time first start up after the fuel filter it was probably just some air.

I did the fuel filter and air filter on Tuesday this week and did not have any troubles till today....Saturday. Perfect start up right after doing those filters. I will check out the products you suggested. Thanks for the reply.

I'm w/ Whitelightning on this, I use Power Service Diesel Kleen w/ every fill-up. Don 't know anything about Howes...it may just be it's not available where I shop.
