code scanners

Any ODBII will work. The Equuis/Innova that WalMart sells for $99 is a good unit for the non-professional.

And I have one in like new condition. Shipped to you for $80.

You might keep in mind that most of the code scanners like the ones mentioned will not scan the codes for the brakes, which is what I need one for. You can also go by an AutoZone or maybe other auto parts stores and they will lend you one, but it won't do brakes either.

You will need something to tell you what the codes mean. Different scanners have different levels of information included, and some can be updated by new firmware. I am not that experienced with them, but I do have one and my son-in-law won't give it back! ;)

For what it i worth, I had an ABS light. A talk to a CarX shop manager told meto go to a particular harness in the right kickpanel area. Ty a wire to it and ground it with the key to on. Counted the flashes for the code. The manager toldme what the code meant.

In my case the sensor on the differential went bad. Got a new one at a NAPA(?) parts store for ~$15. Replaced it and problem solved.
