Extended warranty

Hi all,

Some dealers and some private concerns are offering extended warranties beyond the normal warranty period. I am looking at the f250 diesel, maybe 4x4 and wonder if it is practical to consider these warranties?

If you have any experience with extended warranties, I'd sur like to hear from you.

Thanks.

In my experience there are manufactures warranties and these things called service contracts that are a huge rip off! I had a 100,000 mile warranty through Ford that was great and easy to use. I have also had third party service contracts and have yet to be able to use them. With the service contracts there always seems to be a reason why they don't cover something or you have to pay hundreds of dollars to have the problem diagnosed before they will agree it is something covered by the contract. Just My two cents! Gary

Get ONLY if it is a FORD extended warranty. BTW, I always pass them by. It is rare that you can ever recover the warranty costs. There are exceptions, but the odds are in your favor to forget it.

A person is stupid in my opinion Not to buy the ESP. All you have to do is make SURE you get the money back out of it. A new transmission about 50 miles before it expires is always nice.

I haven't bought a printer, scanner, or digital camera but once from best buy. And I've had about 3 of each. You might just have to help things along to get the warranty to pay off.

Looks like another crap shoot. I figure a diesel, if you have trouble, costs a lot more to remedy. I checked Ford ESP and it's not cheap [more than twice the cost of the independents] but that's the way I'll go.

Thanks for all your input.
