f250 clubcab diesel good price?

i'm in the dallas fort worth area and i'm looking to buy a 94 F250 clubcab 7.3 diesel(non turbo) 4 speed overdrive whith a freshly rebuilt clutch, with trailer brakes and straight body and about 145000 miles on the clock and the guys asking 4500.00. being the second ford and first ford diesel, does anybody have experience with the yr and engine combo? good price, yr model issues, recalls, etc.? tia,jack

Go down to Diesel injection service (at least I think they are from your area) or somewhere else that has them and buy some dca4/fw15/fw16 coolant test strips. Test the coolant for anticavitation additive. If you find it, you know that the engine has had some put in it in its lifetime, this does not mean that it has been maintained correctly, it just means there is more of a chance it was. Cavitation is when holes develop between the cylinders and the water jacket, and many diesels use special additives in coolant to prevent it. If none shows or the level is very low, run away.
