I have a 2000 ford f-150 that needs to have upper and lower ball joints replaced. The service manual says that the lower ball joint it self can not be replaced. It says that you must replace the whole lower control arm. The parts store sells the lower ball joint by itself. Can the ball joint be replaced without changing the whole lower control arm?

Yes, Ford just chooses to only carry the control arm to cut down on inventory costs.
Can the ball joint be replaced without removing the control arm? Thanks
