You might want to take off the IAC and give it a thourough cleaning. Its the shiny thing on the side of the throttle body, it also has a plug coming out of the bottom. Erik D. '94 white lightning

the passages leading to the Idle Air Speed motor are plugged with dirt
warm the engine up
with engine off, block throttle full open
take off hose at throttle body and filter box
using AutoZone's best 'el-cheapo' carb cleaner, wash down the throttle blade area including the small passages leading to the IAS motor...........you might wnt to unbolt the IASM from the intake and let the cleaner wash thru the passages from both ends
leave it for an hour, to allow the cleaner to evaporate
while waiting, take the filter-to-TB hose and pound the shit out of it on the floor, then blow all the loosened crap out with compressed air
re-install hose
UNBLOCK THROTTLE !!!
start the truck and test it............you may have to crank for 10-15 seconds to get it to start
repeat if necessary
I see this all the time after transmission repairs; when the rear of the engine sags because the rear mount has been removed, it breaks loose all kinds of crud from inside that long hose, and it ends up in the IAS passages
