Need Ford pickup truck kingpin info

Jul 30, 2004 2 Replies

I've heard too many different stories from too many different people that now I'm confused, and really would like some credible info from someone.

I need to find out if the kingpin used in the Twin I-beam suspension by Ford in their 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks from '65-'79 all used the same kingpin. The main thing I'm looking for is the actual kingpin diameter for each of these applications. I can't find this info anywhere, and I've been looking for some time. The dealership won't help, the parts stores simply tell me that there is one part number used for '68-'74 parts and a different part number for '75-'79, but that's all they can tell me.

Can some kind soul PLEASE help me wade through all this information (and mis-information) and provide the specs? Thanks!!!

Why not just go to the parts store, have them hand you one of each and measure them.

The Ford Factory parts book for the years of 1973 to 1979 F-100 to F-500 shows about 10-15 different part numbers for that part. Some numbers/parts may have been replaced as this is an older book but I would need more info as to what the axle code or application might be. In any case there are no dimentions given for any of these king pins. The Ford part number is xxxx-3111-x , X being the unknown. need more info.>The dealership won't

I doubt that the dealership has the info you are looking for. Short of measureing each part for each application. They did make an oversized one at one time. hope this helps
