My '82 F-100 has 2 fuel tanks. The rear one is RUSTY, so I keep the selector switch on front. Now it's time to just get a new rear tank. My mechanic will be doing the install... I see them in J.C. Whitney, but is there anywhere else I can get a good replacement tank (cheap, of course)? Is plastic okay? Any input about this is greatly appreciated, and thanks again to the good people in this n.g. Paul

not sure where you can find a good tank.
I also have 82 F100, 2 tanks.
When I was doing work on the front tank I had a difficult time getting tank disconnected from rubber inlet hose. So I figured I would just cut the hose and replace it. Bad idea. I was unable to find this hose anywhere, even at Ford dealer. Fortunately, I was able to use the old hose.
Be aware of this when replacing one of you tanks. You might be able to find this hose at JC Whitney-I didn't check there.

Thanks for the advice. It has many angles but I think the moral is, "Don't destroy ANYTHING on an older vehicle till you are sure you can get a replacement." I learned that on a '72 Dodge Coronet.
