I recently purchased a used spare tire carrier for my 1978 F-150 by mail. It seems to be easily 18 inches too long to be suspended from the chassis holes provided. I have contacted the seller but any ideas why this might be so? Could there be different size carriers for the same model year? Thanks for any help.
