I've always understood if you use the E-brake when your rotors are hot, you're going to warp them quick.

If you don't use it at least once in a while, it will rust and not work properly when you need it. I had an emergency brake stick on me, and naturally, I was on a trip on a Friday night in the middle of a snow storm. I limped over to a gas station, and asked to use the lift. The kid says: "I don't think I can let you do that." I held out a 20 dollar bill, and asked again. The kid takes the money and says: "Sure, pull it right in." I pulled the wheels and drums, and pulled the rusty cable back through. I was on my way again in 15 minutes.

Using it once in a while will keep it ready for when you need it, and maybe save you 20 bucks...

Actual Plasyd might be on to something. It is possible. An extremely hot rotor having pressure applied in the same spot for a period of time. Makes sense to me.

OK, so you believe in magic too. Can I sell you a bridge in Brooklyn? It's one heck of a deal.

I always use the E brake when I park on every car I have ever owned. Never caused me one lick of problems and I have never had a car roll away on me either. I would recommend always setting the emergency/parking brake. I read the owners manual in my Ranger and they call it a parking brake and the first sentence in bold of that sections says. "Always use the parking brake when parking". I have never had one freeze or warp a rotor. If your rotors are getting so hot that it is a problem either you need to modify your driving habits or you have another problem with your braking system. But failure to set the parking brake is a mistake and you should never rely on the transmission to stop your car. Not to mention that using the tranny to hold your car on a hill actually puts undue stress on the tranny. What would you rather repair? The brakes or your tranny?
