i just finished doing same thing on my 89.theres only 2 wires hooked to th plastic switch though.. you might want to first take off the wheel and just clean all the years of goouk in there. when you first take wheel off youll see a screw right next to turn / key unit. its a grounding screw. you might want to try that also. unfortunately still need to take off wheel. --chvyrepr
