Hi all,



I lost my 2004 f-250 crewcab diesel in the last hurricane that came through and I am now starting to look for a replacement. This time around I am wondering if I really should go with the diesel again, the reason being the increasing price of diesel, this was my first diesel truck and I was quite pleased with the fuel cost this spring when I purchased it....is this annual fluctuation normal, or can one expect the cost of diesel to stay above that of premium????? The main reason I went with the diesel is that I am pulling a boat that weighs ~8-9000lb, which seem to be around the upper towing-limit for the V8.....would this be too close for comfort and I should go with a diesel, or will this be enough????

This must be an East coast thing. Out here on the left coast, diesel is priced slightly lower than regular gasoline. It's about 30 cents/gallon less than premium. While the cost of the diesel might be high where you are, I'd think the better mileage might make up for the higher cost per fill.

I fill up about every 3-4 days with my '02 V10 powered 350 and it's about 90 bucks/tank and I'm lucky to break the 10 MPG barrier on a tank.. I think I'd opt for the diesel if it were me.

Go with the diesel. After winter is over the price of diesel should go down. But think about this resale value safety and even you stated there's no little margin in your towing situation. So go with the diesel if you were happy before.
