89 Buick park ave Noise issue (brakes?)

Oct 27, 2003 1 Replies

Weird problem I have right now. I just replaced the front brake pads on my

89 park ave (170,000 miles on the car). The rotors were still really good, so I had them machined. Pads are decent quality.... here's the problem.

While driving, SOMETIMES i get a medium-pitched whine coming from the front right. The pitch DOES NOT CHANGE with vehicle or engine speed, and if I touch the brake pedal (not even hard enough to turn on the brake lights) the noise stops, until I let off the pedal. It also seems to go away faster then

55-60 mph, and doesn't appear until I'm going 10-15 mph. I can also feel a light "hum" in the steering wheel and floor when the noise appears.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Tony
