Had 3 Sonata,s. Only problem was on the 2002 V6 when all 6 plug leads failed one after the other about 2 months apart. And the silly bloody dealers were happy to pay somebody to take off all the inlet manifolding etc etc

3 times rather than just replace obviously a bad batch of leads they probably pay a few dollars for. What always impresses me with the things is that I get 7.8 litres per 100Km on a trip. From a 2.7 litre donk. Cheers John

I have two Hyundai Sonata's, a 2002 with 170,000 miles and a 2006 with 44000 miles. The 2002 still runs like a swiss watch. Mechanically, the car is sound and very dependable and is driven daily, 70 miles roundtrip to work.

As for my 2006, this car rides and performs as well as it did the day I drove it out of the showroom. I have noticed no loss of power or performance over the past 7 years I've owned this car and plan to keep it another 7 years.

I just bought a new 2013 Elantra after reading many good reviews of Hyundai. I hope I do as well as you. I traded in a 2005 Focus w/

84000 miles on it. That Focus was the second worst car I ever owned. The worst was a VW Rabbit.

All the other Ford cars I owned were varying degrees of disappointment, except for a Ford Escort, which was the best car I ever owned.

Oh dear! I have just bought a 2009 Focus with 44k miles, I sold my 2001 Elantra which was running perfectly but is getting to the 'money pit' stage where some engine work, along with clutch, brakes' and some CEL light checks are needed. The Elantra has 106K miles on it. Never, ever failed to start or broke down for any reason.

Well, the 09 Focus might be better than the 05 model. I don't know when they started the Focus line, but I was told it was the replacement line for the 98 Escort. Another Focus was what I wanted because it was such a great car.

I,ve had four Sonata,s since 1999, the latest being a 2010 NF diesel auto. Three problems I had was where the 2002 V6 had 5 ignition leads pack up, one after the other about 2 months apart. Dealer refused to just replace the lot until the 5 th packed up!. The other was the odd bodywork creaks/rattles in all of them. Latest has a irregular click somewhere in dash. It would be almost impossible to find. Rear suspension had a knock over bumps. Dealer could not find issue though having car for 3 days. Fixed it myself in 20 minutes. Extremely comfortable, noise minimal, reliable, excellent fuel economy with tall gearing. John
