Robert, If you are in the USA, there is a wonderful TV series/article on the Discovery Channel -- Home and Leisure. They are completely tearing apart and restoring a 1965 E-Type Series I . It is most interesting for it goes over all the weak points of these cars including the fact there was no rustproofing done on the inner metal works.

The series will repeat in September and is called "a car is reborn". Check out the schedule on

E-Types and parts are not hard-to-find, they're just expensive. Be prepared for your wallet-ectomy.

Find a specialist mechanic if you don't plan to work on it yourself.

In my opinion, the earlier models have more class, i.e. 3.8L over 4.2L, Series I over Series II, unless, of course, you just _have_ to have the V-12 .
