Can anyone give me any info on buying a used XK8? I`m looking to buy a 4.0 coupe on an P or S plate.
One Ive looked at recently has just had a new engine, and seemed immaculate. But the fact that its had a new engine put me off. Be grateful for some feedback

I'm not an XK8 owner, I have an XJ8. The earlier V8 engines in all Jags had a "nikasil" coating which wore away over time. Make sure you DON'T buy an early XK8 unless it _HAS_ had it's engine replaced, as the replacement will be due to the Nikasil problem. Plus, a new engine in effect means you have a brand new car on 0 miles, so it's a definite plus point not a negative!
Go back and buy it :)

What model year(s) are you looking at?
How early is early? I have a '98 XK8 that I bought slightly used. I don't know if the engine has been swapped.
The VIN numbers in question are supposedly:-
XK Series 001036 - 042775 XJ Series 812256 - 878717
And if the engine has been changed it should have a re-manufactured ident label on the cylinder block just below the rear of the ''A'' block cylinder head.
