Leaking water in

My XJ 40 leaks water into the passenger footwell. The water runs down from the vents below the windscreen and flows to the footwell via a grommet in the side of the well below the ECU. This has rusted the metal around the grommet and is letting the water in there. Is there any easy way to fix this without removing the front wing and sealing it from there.

Dave, If you are leaking from the front vents, it usually means that the "duckbill" is plugged. Look under the windscreen wiper motor on the left side of the car under the bonnet and 1/2 way down the fire wall you will see a rubber fitting that looks like a duck's bill. Usually, over the years, this rubber piece gets full of debris and clogged thus clogging the tube it connects to and forcing water into the cabin. Clean this all out and your water problems should go away.
