2001 GC Laredo - radio upgrade options

Dec 15, 2007 7 Replies

We have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the combo radio/CD/Cassette

Wondering what's out there that will fit into the dash as an exact replacement - wiring, bezel, etc and offer the radio + CD + music data display, and maybe going toward the HD channels, etc

Take a look at Crutchfield.com. They have everything you need, along with instructions for installation. I just put a Sony receiver in our Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought from Crutchfield. They are the best in the business.

to zero in on the products available, with many reviews, they'll have the adapters, too Then search the number forbest price, and usually buy via Amazon. God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O mailto: snipped-for-privacy@billhughes.com

Exact fit. My recommendation is to give up on that idea.

Your decision depends on how much $ your going to part with.

First suggestion is to head to a local stereo store that does competition audio and check out the "brag book"

Consider XM radio iPod MP3 etc

Along with better speakers, base, amps, tuners, etc. Beware, it's a slippery slope, stereo... :)

just for sake of discussion - which Sony did you get, and what year & existing radio was in the GC.

The kick ass ones have wifi so they can synch with your home network music server. :)

Your radio is a DIN2 size chassis, most aftermarket units are in the DIN1 or DIN1.5 size range. They have face plates that will cover the gaps (although they look 'aftermarket') and wiring patch harnesses that will take care of the wiring. Krutchfield is a very popular source and they have both an excellent catalog and web-site.

btw - DIN stands for Deutsche Industrial Norm
