I would like to replace the shocks in my 89 cherokee. I use the car 99 % of the time on paved roads. I would like as smooth a ride as possible. I am not sure what kind of shocks I have on the car now as I purchased it used. Evey time I hit a few bumbs in a row, my wifes bra straps break. ( Which gives the truckers a good show) I have 160 K miles on it so I am not looking to spend a small fortune. Anyone have any suggestions. I was looking at the Monroes in Sears. Thanks Jim

Old Man Emu has the reputation for having the smoothest ride. What helped my ride most was removing the front swaybar even though I have installed mutch higher rate front springs, it rides better than stock.
mine has BDS front springs, Add a leaf and lift shackle. rear rides the same as stock even though i can carry more now. and Bilstein shocks. no swaybars at all.
with this suspension setup its just the way i like it. i can jump it and it will not bottom out, unless im going really fast on a landing. stock i bottomed out constantly, even on road.
When I was looking for shocks for an 88 MJ I tried to find the DT3000s that everyone here raves about. Bob Supplee suggested Rough Country and I've been really happy with them. Both the DT3000 and the Rough Country are hydraulic with no gas and the ride is really good for me. At $30-$35 each, the price is also pretty good. Check with Bob (405-799-8977) - he'll do you right.
