I just put on four new Edelbrock Performer IAS Shocks (4Wheelparts.com has them for $69.99 before $50 mail in rebate) and what a complete change in ride with these shocks over the original shocks that came with the Up-Country option (just shy of 80,000 miles)

In reality there really is not much you can do to truly smooth out the ride of the XJ but a good set of help tremendously. The ride over really rough patches is the road is quite smooth... for the price you really can beat them.

Before I bought the IAS shocks I was going with Doetsch which I have read are very good shocks as well that run about $40 with free shipping... no regrets not going with the cheaper shock though.

Second vote for the Performer IAS shocks... I have them and love them. As a passenger, my wife even noticed the difference right off the bat.
