Do the motor with the window up, it allows you more room to work. Before you start, grab the handyman's secret weapon...duct tape. Tear off a couple strips to use to hold the window in the "up" position, start the tape on the outside of the glass and wrap right over the top of the door edge, back onto the glass on the inside, this will help keep the window up, some windows have tendency to slide down (very fast) and the metal edges can / have cut fingers, wires amongst other things.,
