95 Yj threaded hole sizes

The threaded holes in my 95 Yj frame are quite rusted so it is hard to tell if the bolt is wrong or if the rust is causing them to go in tight.

The rear ones (under frame behind shackles) I have been told are

10mm. Is this right?

The front ones (top of frame, used to mount tow hooks) seem to be 1/2 coarse thread but the previous owner installed a bumper with what seems to be 12mm 1.75 thread bolt. The threads looked damaged when I took them out. Anyone know the correct size?

Thanks

By looking at some installation instructions on .pdf files for rear bumpers and hitches from two different manufacturers, it is actually

7/16 in the rear. 1/2 in the front seems to be correct.

Thanks for the input.

I like that idea, the YJ isn't designed very well for rear tow points. Did you have to lift the body to do it?

I have a 2" body lift, if I did it over I'd stick with a 1" lift. You can get special bumper mounts and nut in under a 1" lift, you need a bit more to get the hook mount that I have. My bumper is mounted with 1/4" x

2" straps on top and bottom of the frame with the bolt compressing those onto the frame. If you move the hook back a bit, it fits in better.

Nice setup, I like the air tank idea too. Small body lifts can be put to good use.
