97 Wrangler High Flow Cat

Hey Y'all,



I've a 97 Wrangler SE 2.5L 4Cyl. with ~87K miles. My catalytic converter is rattling real bad. Jeep runs great but the cat is about to drive me more crazy then I might already be. SO...since I'm fixing to replace it; does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for a stainless steel, high flow exhaust including the cat? I only need from the stock manifold to the outlet end of the cat. The cat also needs an oxygen sensor port. I already have a stainless steel Borla cat-back system (very nice). I'm not looking for 'sound' but am looking to improve performance, mostly gas mileage.



Any ideas? Any experiences?

I've not seen an exhaust system with the cat. included. Improving mileage is a long shot. You could go headers but it's least expensive to just change the cat.

Thanks Andy. Yes, I agree replacing the cat alone is the least expensive. I've price some headers at around $300-500 US. Ouch! especially since I just replaced the stock manifold about a year ago. It had the famous crack in it. Someone suggested to go to a muffler shop and have them install a pipe and a standard/universal cat both with a slightly bigger opening. Theory being this would result in less restriction. Less restriction should result in better performance/mileage. I know adding the cat- back added ~4mpg. For a stainless pipe and cat with the oxygen sensor port I figured to run around $300 for parts. I see pipes and cats labeled "high flow" on-line but I'm not sure if they are OBDII. Thanks again.
