When you pull the slip yoke, fluid can come out around the splined output shaft. If you park it facing slightly down hill, you won't lose more than a few drops when the slip yoke comes out. Then clamp on a cap and you're good to go.

And it's interesting that you get annoyed about us asking the question if you don't even know under what circumstance you would lose fluid by pulling the tailshaft ("Mike, how exactly would I lose the fluid? ...").

...and on a side note, I prefer top-posting and when others top-post; it makes it much more efficient to read messages using Google when I want to look up something old, and also because I currently use google for all my NG reading since my cable ISP has crappy direct newsgroup service.

Bob, you seem to be a nice guy. I was simply thanking Mr. Obvious. I then asked the more intelligent posters (based solely on response) about how it would leak. Is that so wrong? And sure, to each his own. But don't try that top posting in a tech group, I learned that the hard way years ago.
