There are many ways to cut the front. This shows the basic idea for retaining the stock flares on a pre-97:

Remove your front bumper for easier access.

Carefully remove the plastic wheel well liner and the flare. Your fender bolts are probably rusted and seized and need to be cut. Discard the plastic spoiler that hangs under the bumper.

Cut horizontally in line with the bottom of the headlight to remove the lower front part of the fender. Trim the front of the flare to match.

Trim away as much of the wheel well opening as you can without cutting into the welded pinch seam and/or the remaining bolt holes for the fender hangers. If you need to clear above the pinch seam, don't cut it

- fold it back instead.

I ran without the plastic inner liners for a while but dirt and mud was finding its way under the hood and into the doors. Not good, so I put the liners back in. They originally connected to the spoiler below the bumper so they were now too long. Solution was to cut the front ends, tuck them inside the bumper and secure the ends to the lower lip of the bumper with plastic ties.

Here's how mine looks with 4.5" lift and 33x10.50s on stock rims:

The rotary or dremil tool with a fiberglass reinforced cut off wheel will cut through body metal like butter. They are a great tool! The cut off wheels are more expensive than the regular ones that shatter easy, but are well worth the extra. They will cut off a nut and bold fast too.
