I'm looking to get 4 foglights for my lightbar. However, I live in Canada right in the saltbelt and need something that won't rust all to hell in a few years. What are my best options that aren't too expensive?
What materials should I get and what should I avoid? Chrome, steel, other material?
I have been running Hella 'black magic' lights which are in a black plastic case for 7 years or so. The case actually says 'Hella Rallye
1000'. The hold down bracket's nut where the ground is looped is just starting to get the odd bad connection that needs the light wiggled to reconnect the ground sometimes. It is just time for a clean, but then I need to do all the grounds before winter anyway.The black magics are expensive puppies though, but I would imagine other Hella lights would hold up about the same.

However, I live in CanadaI have had black painted KC Slimlites on my '98 XJ for a couple of winters. I saved some $ by buying them on ebay from a guy who had run them in the Chicago area for a couple of years. I am in Michigan, so between the original owner and myself, they've been exposed to about 4 winters. They still look great. No rust. Mine actually are driving lights, not fog lights - but the housings would be identical.

Hella makes a nice set (Hella 500) which is 6 3/8 inch diameter.
55 watt H3 Halogen. Made of a fiber reinforced polymer. Bosch makes pretty much the same thing. The Pilot, 5.5 inch diam. Or Bosch Touring which is round 7" diameter. I have run both of these on a Rallye Mini. I preferred the Bosch Touring because it is a larger lamp and through the light further. I currently run Bosch 225 Rallye on my
I've got a pair of Hella 500 driving lamps, but they also come in a fog beam pattern with your choice of round or rectangular. They have a high-impact ABS case, and real glass lenses.
They're good lights, and not terribly expensive, which is nice if one ever gets smacked off because of a low branch...
