international has bought jeep ???

I think this is an April fools joke but JP mag is reporting that International has bought Jeep:

From that article:

"The only two stumbling blocks are the Dodge and Jeep brands. GM doesn't want competition for either Hummer or for GMC."

Unfortunately, the Hummer brand is dead. The H2 plant of AM Generals is being retooled to build AM General trucks and their new taxi, and there will be no new H2s made. As for the H3, the story goes that it too is finished.

Based on this information alone, I'd say that the article is a bit of pre-mature April Fools writing!

It might be nice to have Jeeps that were overbuilt like the old over-engineered International Scout series.

Might keep a few of the pansy-sniffing yuppies out of them, but I'm trying to think of the downside of that.
