I was reading a jeep board that pointed out the factory installed gauges in Jeeps are not much better than idiot lights. It seems you are not getting the information the sender actually sends, because the inputs from the sender are filtered and averaged by the computer. So the factory gauges are not providing real time information.

True, modern gauges go through the ECU. However if you know how to read a gauge they are much better than any idiot light. Any delay is in terms of milliseconds and any averaging is just to make it easier to see what is going on. Most folks wouldn't know what a moving needle indicated anyway.
