Howdy all,
I need to replace the key lock cylinder on the steering column in the '87 Wrangler I just bought. I don't know how it comes apart.
Any help?
Thanks in advance,

According to Haynes, after you remove the steering wheel, turn signal switch, hazard warning switch, and ignition key lamp assembly, turn the key to the ON position, remove the retaining screw, which is inside the steering column, and then withdraw the lock cylinder.

Thanks Earle. I've got to get a manual on this old Wrangler. Spdloader
Why do you need to remove it?
I've got an 87 that I bought a replacement for because I couldn't get a key copy that would work. I explained it to a locksmith and he said he could cut me a new master for $19. He used my key as a template, looked in his bookd to see where some other keys has cuts, and guessed on the 'code'. It worked great.
Well, because it is so worn you can start the Jeep with a pocket knife, or small fingernail file.
Not too secure.

Following Earles instructions, I changed out the key lock cylinder tonight in about 30 mins.
Thanks again Earle!
