Mud King XT?

Question

Anyone had any experience with these tires? The BFG M/T's are still a little out of my price bracket, but for about $60 CDN less per tire, I can get the MK XT's ...is there a "reason" these tires are price alot cheaper or is it just a popularity name-brand thing ...?

Ya, that's the only one I could find, too. I'm not sure sidewall durability will be the hugest issue for me. I don't rockcrawl at all (aside from little

3-4" rocks and stuff that are on the trail and the odd bigger stone I have to pass ;p) ...I'm more concerned with the tires not clogging up too bad and having some ability to get me through, or out of, muddy holes/ruts. My Jeep's drivetrain is going to remain stock until (knock on wood) something blows up on it and only then will I upgrade (ie: lockers, bigger engine, etc).

So, with that said ...I'm just hoping to spend $650-700 CDN on a set of tires that will keep me going relatively well on the trail with a mostly-stock CJ7. If anyone has any bad experiences with these tires tho, I'll just save up more and get the BFG M/T's ...

They are BFG second line mud tires with the same tread pattern but 2 ply sidewalls.

They are noisier than BFG's but run just fine in snow or mud on our Canadian roads. My CJ came with them when I got it and I wore them down to less than 1/4" with good grab still.

Acording to this the BFG are 3 ply sidewall the others are probably 2 ply sidewall.If you don't do rocks and do do mud, you probably won't notice a lot of difference. I run the "Radial Baja" mud tire, work fine for my use in the muddly logging roads.griff

griffin did pass the time by typing:bit dated BFGoodrich makes the Phantom brand. a bit more but even  doesn't list the phantom.They do list the T/A KM that tire looks more like the General Grabber MT doesn't have a very good rating at tirerack.Here is the full list.

Have you priced the BFGs at Costco, I bought mine local but was at costco a while later, be a spacial order but it would of been $350.00 Canadain cheaper at costco. 4 BFG MTs 33x12.5 installed with taxes was $975.00 at costco.

I buy several sets of these a month! They are decent tires but remember torotate every 3K miles or they will cup and get out-of-round I have foundthem to be quiet as well

I run 31x10.50x15 Mud Kings on a 2000 XJ with a 3" lift and I really like them.  I air down to 15 to 20 PSI depending on the terrain and they seem to do well.  They seem to clean fairly well.NormI buy several sets of these a month! They are decent tires but remember torotate every 3K miles or they will cup and get out-of-round I have foundthem to be quiet as well
