Ok, so it wasn't off road but...

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in good ol West Tennessee.

The temps were warm and since I was suffering from a bad case of cabin fever I decided to go down to the end of the driveway and clear some of the brush out of the trees to make it easier to spot the occasional car coming down the hill.

Thinking I would escape 'the boys' (my hubby and my 4 year old grandson) I grabbed my tools and headed down with my Jeep. I turned on Blue Collar radio, opened up the doors and was ready for some 'just me' time.

It took them all of 15 minutes to track me down and start pestering me. Hubs was doing something with the tractor (a small, very old, Kubota) and Nick was helping him drive it. They drove down to where I was working and it didn't take them long to get right under my feet, so I put them to work. I handed one of them a saw, the other one some snippers and away we went.

There were a few small junk trees, with about 3" dia trunks that were more trouble to saw down than they would have been to pull out so I suggested that hubs yank em out roots and all with the tractor.

Even in 4wd, the tractor didn't budge one of them. It was kinda funny really, but the ruts it left weren't when the tires started spinning in the mud.

I offered to hook 'Ajax' onto the chain and give it a yank and he kinda chuckled and told me "why not!" So... I locked it up and with two good yanks, out it came. Then we pulled out a couple more and piled them all up. I used my trusty little work horse to drag the brush down to the back of the far field behind the pond.

So see... a good rig isn't ALWAYS about where you can climb or how far off road you can go, sometimes a good rig is defined on just how good of a workhorse it can be.

In this case, my lil ol TJ, really stepped up and did the job. I'm tickled pink - heh! Next time he gets the tractor stuck, I know which rig I'll use to pull him out LOL

Hey, that's just getting back to your Jeep's farming roots. :)

My parents had a few trees blown down during a big wind storm last winter, and the winch made it a breeze to pull them upright and hold them there while dad and I staked them in place.
