opinions on the sportster

hello group,ive been lurking for a few months so that i could make a more informedpurchase, and since i have a question i figure this is as good a time as anyto introduce myself.over the years ive owned a few crotch rockets but ive decided its time tobuy a harley. i walked into my local dealership today with the intention ofleaving with my own bike, but the _one_ that really caught my eye (1200sportster evolution) was sold and the salesman told me they would not begetting in anymore of that model until the '04 lineup was released. i saton several of the other models, but kept coming back to the evolution.when i asked about loctating one at another dealer, he told me that thesportster was considered to be a "bitch bike" and that i should consider oneof the other (more expensive) lines. i couldnt tell if he really believedwhat he said or if he was just trying to get me to spend more money, andspend it at his dealership.at 5'10" i found the sportster to be a perfect fit for me, and although itwont influence my purchase im curious what he meant by that. when herealized that his comment would not sway me, he encouraged me to wait untilthe '04 lineup was released because it would be a totally new design withmany benefits.i guess bottom line, is this guy shooting straight with me?thanks!

OK, I have to chime in on this one. My wife always wanted a bike. I figured with our only child being 8 we were done having children and I was going to get my wife her Sportster. That meant I could get a MX bike too! Made an appointment to go pick up a used sportster one evening and had to call back and back out of the deal because my wife told me she was pregnant noon the same day. 2 year old boy is still referred to as our little sportster. So instead of a MX bike I bought a TJ to bet my dirt fix. The rest is history. She'll get her bike someday...

Even a denim jacket and a pair of jeans will allow you to slide a long ways before it gets to the skin... I was wearing fatigues and a leather jacket when I had my last front tire blowout and although the fatigue pants were scuffed up, they didn't wear all the way through... The jacket was suede, so the scuff marks on it brushed right out...

I'm more into the disposable bikes. Had a '95 Ninja a while back. I couldn't see me on a Harley although the girls look good.

Buy a green Kawi and I'll make you a good deal on a set of race leathers, boots and gloves.

I got rid of the bike after a bad car accident. Kind of got me scared. That's when I turned to Jeeps.

ive had several over the years, now im just looking for a cruiser.

many thanks! im waiting on the '04 models (less vibrations, bigger fuel tanks, etc) so its gonna be a little while anyway.

Have you guys seen that offroad videotape series featuring Jeeps and other fine vehicles put out by 4 wheel parts? Goddamn commercials all though them. What's up with that?
