Problems Going in to Reverse

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, just about 100,000 miles on

and out of the gear several times it will always eventually go.. Is this a transmission issue? Linkage? Gear box? Thanks!

Most time when I see that, the tranny is low on oil. I would be checking that when the engine is hot and running in park likely or however the dipstick says to check it and I would be feeling the oil for grit from worn out parts and smelling it for a 'burnt toast' type of smell which indicated a slipping band and be looking at it's colour for a burnt look.
