Question on CPS sensor

Having a bit of a rough idle and piss poor mileage.



The mileage is probably due to the Code 14 (MAP sensor voltage too low). If the engine ever burps the MAP sensor gets nailed. Got to rig a pressure bypass for that. :/



Anyhoo.. back to the subject line..



I measured the CPS sensor (across pins B&C) as indicated in ye olde service manual. Says that it should be infinite (open) but I'm getting



3.01Meg.

(B is the center pin and C is on the right side if the clip is up.) __| |__ ( a b c )



Before fixing that I'd like to know if anyone else has measured a good sensor and what it tested as.


Sorry, Doug - I'm tearing hair out trying to assign words to CPS sensor! TPS is no problem, CHT is no problem, but I'm just freakin' on this CPS. Tell me and make me feel foolish!

Jeep has two "CPS" sensors. One is the Crankshaft Position Sensor (located on the transmission hump) and the other is the Camshaft Position Sensor (located at the base of ye olde distributor).

Like ßill says, I'm looking at the Crankshaft sensor. Ref pic.

Although I think I've found the problem. After checking every dagnabbit electrical doodad I hooked up my vac bleeder (pump/gauge) to the Evap canister. The vac valve worked perfectly and held vaccuume.

Then I hooked the gauge up to the feed and started the engine.

......zero vac....... :(

The engine heat had melted one of the hardlines. I replaced the line and now it's running better. Not perfect yet, but hopefully that was the problem.
