Which transfer case do I have on my 2005 TJ Unlimited with 4.0/6-sp? NV-231 or NV-241? What is the difference between the two?

is it a rubicon or sport?
There should be a round shiny metal plate on the back of the transfer case, with numbers stamped on it.

The difference is the 231 is part time and the 241 is fulltime. For the answer to the resulting question about the difference do a google search! Or maybe Bill has a link.

It's the sport; it's gotta be the 231 (part-time); not sure if I've ever seen a full-time case on a TJ.
Earle: I'll check the back of the existing case for a shiny metal plate.
Jo-bo: it's a PT unit, so a 231 would be my guess. I'll check that tag just to be sure.
