Re: 4.0 engine swap question..

I know a good rebuilder in Toronto with 3 yr 120K warr. Probably close to $1200 if he wants to go that route... I personally wouldn't swap in a motor from an 89/90.

the motor from anything earlier than '91 will have less power-the heads are different. i would personally opt for a rebuild...

And if it needs bored out you could go over a bit then stroke it out. :) While your rebuilding, stroking isn't that much more expensive.

Then port and polish (heck, you have the head off anyway)

That will give your 95 a lot more power.

Email me the rebuilders info and I'll pass it along to him, I think he is looking at doing the swap because he can get the engine real cheap and can also get anything else he may need at the same time. I already told him he would be loosing some power by doing it but he wasn't to concerned. If you email me the info snowball_2004ATsympatico.ca (replace AT with @) I'll fwd it to him and he can take it from there.

Thanks again

The older 4.0 used the Rennix MPI and had a different head/mainfold/exhaust where the '95 used the so-called High Output

4.0. Several hp difference due to the head/manifold/exhaust changes, not to menti> Asking for a co-worker,
