stuck in a swamp

Unfortunately Jeep in their wisdumb never put a high water vent on the tranny. They just use a stupid button vent. The vent the diffs and the t-case, but not the tranny.

I pulled the button in mine and glues in a piece if gas line to make a nipple for a hose I ran up by the battery.

That's something that was never mentioned to me as a new Jeeper...I saw all the other Jeeps going through deep water and just figured wow, kool, my Jeep can do that too... it wasn't till I had to have my syncros changed that the tranny shop told me the tranny was full of water and kindly redirected all my vent lines up to the top of the firewall for me....then I added a snorkle for security...now I fish out of it ;) and speaking of which...while out on a lil' snow run here last weekend we drove through what we had always thought to be a still water in a ditch on the way out of the trail...after our 3 Jeeps going through we stood around shootin' the sh*t and next thing we see are lil' brook Trout (4) flopping around on the snow next to the ditch... No more wheelin' through there...damn we thought it was dead water...being at the end of the trail and used by many off road vehicles we're erecting a sign to stop the possible damage of a fish habitat... it jus goes to prove that there are trout in every ditch here in Nova Scotia =)

... and the oil leak might very well be just a valve cover gasket. They often leak and drip down the back making the leak look more evil than it really is. Tomes
